What does identifying (or not identifying) with the BGLTQ community mean to you?

Identifying with the BGLTQ community for me means inclusion.

How, if at all, has your identity shaped your academic and/or professional journey?

I think being LGBTQ has provided me with an appreciation for diversity in the world. I'm focused on acceptance (not mere tolerance). As somebody who oversees over 75 employees, this approach has helped build strong, trusting, personal and professional relationships.

What advice would you give to yourself when you were an undergraduate?

Do not underestimate yourself. Never believe you're in it alone. I know it sounds cliche, but the "It Gets Better Project" from over a decade ago still rings true today.

What support can you provide to current undergraduate BGLTQ students who are hoping to enter into your field?

I'm happy to have conversations with anybody interested in a career in the field of higher education.

What are your areas of expertise?

Recruiting, employee relations.
