What does identifying (or not identifying) with the BGLTQ community mean to you?

I consider myself part of the BGLTQ community, which entails a shared history, culture, and future. I feel a sense of camaraderie and comfort in our common interests, especially during these uncertain times.

How, if at all, has your identity shaped your academic and/or professional journey?

I found friends, colleagues, and mentors through academic and professional organizations centered around my identity. I felt less alone knowing others have been in my shoes, which helped me to walk down my chosen academic and professional path more confidently.

What advice would you give to yourself when you were an undergraduate?

It is okay to change your mind about the direction you want to take your studies and career. Life is less about progress than discovery. Sometimes you need to dream another dream.

What support can you provide to current undergraduate BGLTQ students who are hoping to enter into your field?

I am happy to serve as a sounding board and field questions and concerns about academic studies, career paths, and life in general. For those interested in communications and design in particular, I can also provide feedback on their portfolios.

What are your areas of expertise?
