What does identifying (or not identifying) with the BGLTQ community mean to you?

It means accepting that who I am deviates from a norm, and that there is nothing more fulfilling than living freely within my identity's idiosyncrasies.

How, if at all, has your identity shaped your academic and/or professional journey?

I have been lucky that my academic environment is accepting in a way that my identity does not influence my professional journey.

What advice would you give to yourself when you were an undergraduate?

To be kinder to myself and believe that the only acceptance that was needed was my own.

What support can you provide to current undergraduate BGLTQ students who are hoping to enter into your field?

I can provide guidance on how to become comfortable with gender nonconformity in public academic spaces, how to navigate coming or not coming out to colleagues, and how to identify and choose programs or universities that have queer friendly policies.

What are your areas of expertise?
