Livingstone Cox
Dear Students,

We are very happy to welcome Livingstone Cox (they/them) as the new Assistant Director of the Office of BGLTQ Student Life!

Livingstone brings a strong background in student affairs and counseling to the role. Livingstone competed their master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from Syracuse University and graduated with honors from Elizabeth City State University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in Spanish. They are currently completing their PhD in Human Development and Family Science at Virginia Tech. A first of its kind, their dissertation focuses on the being, becoming and belonging processes of Black transgender men. Most recently, they utilized their passion for intersectional, trauma-informed care as an Assistant Director of the Cultural and Community Centers at Virginia Tech and Programming Coordinator of the Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity at Penn State. Their current independent scholarship focuses on how Black transgender, non-binary, and intersex people embody a critical intersectional futurism, and a radical spiritual consciousness that holds keys to intrapersonal and interpersonal liberation.

As the Assistant Director of the BGLTQ Office, Livingstone will be responsible for supervising the BGLTQ interns, overseeing student-driven programming, advising student organizations (including the Queer Advisory Council), and campus outreach and communications.

Livingstone's first day in the role is this Monday, December 9. Feel free to drop by the BGLTQ Office in Grays Hall to say hello!
